Children's Data: A Notice for Parents and Guardians
Beta version. This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
Version 2.0
Date: 2026-10-18
What changed in this version
- New notice. Version 1 covered children in one paragraph of the Privacy Policy.
- It lists everything that can be stored about a child, who can see it, the guardian consent, and how to withdraw it or delete a child's record.
In short
- Children do not have FamilyDose accounts and do not use the app.
- A child's record is created and kept by adults in the household.
- Nothing about a child's health is stored until a parent or legal guardian has given consent.
- No advertising. No profiling. No sale of data.
FamilyDose is a record-keeping and reminder tool that holds family health information. It is not a clinical service. It does not diagnose, prescribe, advise, or tell anyone what or how much to give. Reminders follow the schedule the user sets and can be delayed or fail.
What can be stored about a child
Only what adults in your household enter or upload:
- name, date and time of birth, gender, relationship to you;
- blood type, allergies, known conditions, diet notes;
- medicines and their schedules;
- doses given: when, and which adult logged them;
- symptoms and temperatures;
- vaccinations you record;
- height and weight;
- appointments;
- documents and photos you upload, such as prescriptions and medical records;
- emergency contacts, insurance details and an insurance card image;
- what you put on the child's care card.
Every field except the name is optional. [CONFIRM: which patient fields are required in the app at publication]
Why it is stored
To keep one shared record for the adults who look after the child, and to send those adults the reminders and alerts they set. For nothing else.
Who can see it
- Members of your household, according to the access the Admin gives each of them. The Admin can switch a member's access to a child off.
- Anyone you give a care card link or a file to. You choose the sections. A link can be given an end date and can be revoked. Anyone who has the link can open it.
- Our staff, through an admin dashboard that needs a second factor, to answer a request, investigate a fault or a security problem, or where the law requires it.
- The companies that run the service, listed on the Subprocessors page. The data is stored in Japan and some of it passes through the United States and other countries.
Reminders and alerts are sent to the adults' phones or inboxes. They can include the child's first name and a medicine name. You can hide medicine names in Settings > Notifications.
The guardian consent
Before any child's health information is stored, the app asks a parent or legal guardian to consent. Only the Admin or a Full access adult can give this consent.
Other caregivers, such as a grandparent or a nanny, confirm once that they act on the parent's behalf. The parent can see who entered each record.
The app records the consent with its version, the exact text shown, who gave it and when.
How to withdraw the consent, and what happens then
You can withdraw the guardian consent at any time. [PLANNED: Settings path for guardian consent]
Withdrawal takes effect at once. From that moment the app stops storing new health information for that child. [CONFIRM: what happens to the child's existing record on withdrawal: hidden, kept until you delete it, or deleted]
You can also write to privacy@familydose.app.
How to delete a child's record
- One entry: delete a dose, a symptom or another entry from the child's record. A deleted dose or symptom is hidden at once and permanently deleted after 30 days.
- The whole record: the Admin can remove the child from the household in Settings > Household. The record is hidden from everyone and from every link. The Admin can restore it.
- Permanent deletion of a removed child's record: write to privacy@familydose.app. [CONFIRM: whether permanent deletion of one patient is available in the app at publication]
- Everything: if you are the only member of the household, deleting your account deletes the household and every record in it.
Backups roll off after 7 days.
Getting a copy
Settings > Data and privacy > Export my data gives you a file with everything in the household you can see, including each child's record.
What we never do with a child's data
- No advertising.
- No profiling and no automated decisions about a child.
- No sale of data.
- No contact with the child. The child has no account.
